I found a few ripped out recipes that used to be my mother-in-laws so I am not sure what recipe book this is normally from, my guess would be a Nestle Toll House recipe book. But I cannot take credit for this recipe, I only adapted some of the directions.
Ingredients:
Brownie Base:
2 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter, softened
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. flour
Cheesecake Topping:
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1/2 c. sugar
2 Tbs. butter, softened
2 eggs
2 Tbs. milk
1 Tbs. flour
1/2 tsp. almond extract
3/4 c. chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt chocolate chips in a double boiler. Set aside. With an electric mixer, beat the sugar and butter until smooth. Add eggs, vanilla and salt and mix well. Add the melted chocolate and flour. Spread into a foil-lined 9 inch baking dish. With an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese, sugar and butter until creamy. Add the eggs, milk, flour and almond extract; beat well. Stir in the remaining chocolate chips. Pour over the brownie batter. Bake for 40-45 minutes. Cool completely and cut into squares. (The brownie batter will still be slightly gooey, which is a good thing).
