HoHo Bars

Ingredients:

1 box Devil's Food cake mix
3/4 c. sugar
pinch of salt
1 stick margarine
2/3 c. shortening
5 oz. Carnation evaporated milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 container chocolate frosting

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine the cake mix, along with the water, oil and egg amount listed on the box. Spray a jelly-roll pan with non stick cooking spray, pour the cake batter in the pan and spread out evenly. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes until the center of the cake is fully cooked. Let cool on a wire rack fully before the next step.

In an electric mixer, beat the sugar, salt, margarine, shortening, evaporated milk and vanilla together, starting on low speed, and then on high speed for about 5 minutes (you may want to put a dish towel on top of the mixer, because it gets messy). Spread the shortening layer on top of the cooled cake. Place in the freezer for a few hours until the second layer is completely set (if you poke it, it will be firm to the touch). Take out of the freezer and spread the chocolate frosting evenly on top. Keep refrigerated until you plan to serve.
